A load cell is an electronic device that is used to convert a force into an electrical signal. This conversion is indirect and happens in two stages. Through a mechanical arrangement, the force being sensed deforms a strain gauge. The strain gauge converts the deformation to electrical signals. This electrical signal use to measure the strain.Although strain gauge load cells are the most common, there are other types of load cells as well.
Regarding the usage of load cells , on the cables of bridges to measure the tension and stress applied to the cables under various traffic conditions,Load cells can be placed on the legs of a silo or tank in order to monitor how full it is,And other type of applications which are based on strain.
